Jersey - A Story of Father and Son

At first, this film is officially a remake of a Telugu film named same as " Jersey" which was released in 2019, featuring Nani aka Ghanta Naveen Babu. The story is curious and well-graphed. Shahid Kapoor plays the role of Arjun Talwar, a struggling Ranji cricketer, who dreams to represent his country through cricket.

The film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who directed the same Telugu film, which turned into a mediocre-level film. The film earned Rs 17.20 crore domestically at the box office, which turns a flop movie.

But what made it flop then?

Well, to say, the film has a basic story, but the screenplay seems to be weak. It might have gotten better with better performance of actors as well as a crisp touch to the story without changing with the original. The nice thing is Shahid Kapoor has given his best to the role, and that is seen on screen, with proper actions related to playing cricket. But his character in the film, makes him look dull, as it didn't properly build up. Mrunal Thakur, an excellent actor could have gone par to fulfill the role but failed to do it.

Interestingly the son in the film at the age of 5, played by Ronit Kamra, who is stubborn in his demand of bringing Jersey on his birthday, gives the film some twists.

Then there are some mistakes and realizations which made Arjun come back to the field.

The screenplay somewhat also confuses us for many reasons which are answered at the climax, and that's why the film couldn't appeal to the audience. Also, a major twist is seen in the climax of the movie, which might make the audience emotional. Pankaj Kapoor's acting is fine.

Overall, we can say a One-Time film to watch. With an IMDb rating of 6.9/10, this film is available on Netflix.
