Film Review: Merry Christmas

" Merry Christmas" is a film blended with suspense, a thriller, and a black comedy starring an unusual pair of actors Katrina Kaif and Vijay Setupati. The film is based on the French Novel "Le Monte-charge" by Frederic Dard, while the whole story is unfolded on Christmas evening.

The story revolves around two strangers, Maria Kumar played by Katrina Kaif, and Albert Ramesh played by Vijay Setupati, as they meet and they have many unexpected turns and twists with each other's company.

Talking about the performances, Katrina Kaif is in a central role, where her daily life and the main twist are presented beautifully. While Vijay Setupati, a man with a soft heart, has many reflex actions to an incident, allowing the audience to empathize with his character.

The screenplay of " Merry Christmas" is slow-paced in the first half, which introduces characters, and many important dialogues, while it takes grip in the second half with suspense and unfolding many questions. The extended cameo of Sanjay Kapoor and Radhika Apte adds an interesting layer of intrigue to the drama.

The film's direction by Shriram Raghavan, is a showcase of his expertise crafting unconventional narratives and creating a serious atmosphere. The film is produced by Sanjay Routray, Kewal Garg, and Ramesh Taurani under the banner of Pen Marudhar Cine Entertainment, Matchbox Pictures, and Tips Films, with Netflix as a Streaming Partner. If you are a fan of Black Comedy, Suspense, or Thriller movies, this one is a classic film to watch. Then do watch it in theatres near you. It is rated 7.7/10 on IMDb.
