Empowering Through Sport: Celebrating Neurodiversity at the RD Extreamers Cycling and Skating Event

The vibrant grounds of Solaris Sports World in Pune were joyfully illuminated on March 16th, 2024, as the RD Extreamers Cycling and Skating Event unfolded. Founded by the visionary Rujetah Dedgay, RD Extreamers embarked on a bold mission: to empower neurodivergent children through athletic pursuits, fostering within them a sense of prowess and determination.



A gathering of thirty eager athletes, accompanied by their beaming parents, graced the event, poised to exhibit their skills and resilience. For these children, mastering sports like cycling and skating presents unique challenges, rendering the event a significant celebration of their hard-earned progress and unwavering perseverance.


The event received the distinguished presence of Dr Archana Kadam, a renowned paediatrician esteemed for her expertise in developmental and behavioural paediatrics. With an MD and DNB from BJ Medical College and KEM Hospital, Pune, Dr. Kadam has been a stalwart supporter of the neurodivergent community since 2004, lending her expertise to institutions such as KEM Hospital, Jehangir Hospital, and Hope and Health Clinic Pune.



Dr Archana Kadam graced the occasion with grace and enthusiasm as the chief guest, ceremoniously inaugurating the event. With skaters gliding gracefully and cyclists pedalling with determination, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and anticipation.



Founder Rujetah Dedgay had the honour of flagging off the cyclists, symbolizing RD Extreamers' unwavering commitment to its mission. Meanwhile, the esteemed presence of Jayant Pawar, owner of Solaris Sports World Pune, lent further credence to the event, as he applauded the spirit of the neurodivergent children and their supportive families.


In a gesture brimming with generosity, Jayant Pawar extended several slots in the Solaris Sports Club to the children, recognizing and nurturing their passion for sports. This gesture underscored the inclusive ethos of the event, offering a pathway for these budding athletes to continue their journey towards excellence.


The zenith of the event arrived with the distribution of certificates of participation and medals to the children, a moment steeped in pride and accomplishment for all involved. Dr Archana Kadam and Jayant Pawar bestowed these honours, signifying the acknowledgement of the children's endeavours and the community's unwavering support.


Amidst the jubilant celebrations, parents seized the opportunity to express their gratitude for Rujetah Dedgay's mentorship, recounting poignant anecdotes of their children's progress and personal growth. These testimonials served as a poignant reminder of the profound impact of dedicated guidance and community support in nurturing the potential of neurodivergent children.
